The lesson obviously is that the best accident and incident is the one foreseen and avoided. If you’re head’s not in the right space, maybe dive another day.
I've taught this saying in my basic class (and elsewhere) for years:
You never get hurt on a dive you don't make.
 
I’d agree this post does belong in this subforum. I often don’t sleep well away from home. Caffeine to keep me awake on long drives is part of the culprit. I’ll try to arrive by 8pm the day before if possible. Watch how much caffeine I consume. If I’ve not slept that well, I either don’t dive or I’ll do one dive and then see how I feel.
