Our club wanted to do some kind of long term contest and I designed this below......
Lobster Contest - ©Johnoly 2015
To measure
Get your camera ready for a directly above picture of a flat lobster
Since the bug will still be alive, you may have to use your other hand/foot to hold it flat
Place any fish ruler along side the flat lobster so it will be in the picture
Put the beginning tip of the ruler even with the tail edge tip of the lobster
Take a picture. The measurement is from the tail tip to the eyeballs.
There are 4 categories
1. Longest Lobster
You can keep submitting longer lobster picts as the contest goes on, but your longest
lobster submission can't be used in the best pair category (next)
2 Show us your best Pair !
On each dive trip that you catch atleast 2 lobsters you can submit a photo for this category.
Please the 2 lobsters side by side with their tail tips lined up evenly. Place a ruler in
between the pair and take a photo. Your measurement is just like above tail tip to eyeball,
but you add both lengths to get your final photo total. Your photo totals are all cummulative
over the length of the contest.
3.Selfie Photo
The person taking the photo must be in the photo. The person & all must be on a floating boat.
There must be atleast one lobster somewhere in the picture caught by anyone (doesn't have to
be the selfie person. The winner is the photo that has the most “countable” faces
in the photo. Ties are broken by which photo has is the most lobsters in it.
4. Food Contest
It will be held at the September meeting. You can make any cold lobster salad or dip.
Immitation crab can be substituted for lobster. Plastic mini shot glasses with spoons will be
provided to pass out small samples or you can bring your own crackers. All tasters will need
to purchase a bead necklace at the event for a buck or 2. Each taster will then give the
necklace to the one chef who they think has the best food. Winner is the chef with the most bead
necklaces.
All photos must be submitted within 5 days of when the picture was taken.
It is preferred that divers post their own pictures on the FB group page, but if you are not on FB, then you can email them to the head organizer and he'll post them.
It can't go state wide really because of injury liability etc, so licensing of the above design was denied.
Hope your trip goes great.
