Coral Spawning October 11th, 2009

Hey SBer's!! If you are going to be on Curacao on October 11th... you don't want to miss this year's Coral Spawning!!

So... come and join Ocean Encounters West for this year's spectacular coral spawning which only happens twice a year!!

Where and When:
October 11th @ 6:00pm - SOL Food - Westpunt, Curacao
- Dr. Mark Vermeij from Carmabi will be giving a coral spawning presentation detailing what to expect and diving protocols.
- Sunshine will be serving her legendary pizza with non-alcoholic beverages
9:00pm at Ocean Encounters West - Playa Kalki, Westpunt
- Guided night shore dive to witness this spectacular spawning event right at our awesome house reef, "Alice in Wonderland"!!

After the dive social - talk about the cool stuff we all saw over a few polars!!

Price: $75 USD per person - spaces are limited so please reserve your spot in advance!

Bryan didn't mention it but nondivers are welcomed as well. Mark has a wonderful presentation and answered other questions visitors had in September. It's a comfortable, relaxed, no rush evening chatting with the dive shop employees and new friends. People started arriving even before 6PM, relaxed with some snacks, grazed on pizza, salad and oh yeah, brownies for over an hour and enjoyed hearing Mark's lecture before leaving around 9:00 to gear up for the dive. The price for dinner and presentation is $25.00. Please let Bryan know. If you are staying in BandaBou (west end) it would be an enjoyable evening.

If you are packing for Curacao, the coral spawning is expected this weekend. Since it's not an exact science pay attention during your night dives. Occasionally you'll see some tube sponges releasing during the day. Check with your dive op. If nothing is scheduled, Ocean Encounters WEST has a great program planned; Carmabi presentation, pizza and a guided dive at Alice In Wonderland. Hope to see you this Sunday, October 11th in Westpunt.
