In the market for an inexpensive octo. Prefer new but would consider previously gentle used. Need to spend under $100.

Spend the extra $49 and get the AquaLung ABS Octo off of Amazon
 
I recommend you buy another 2nd stage identical to the one you use as a primary. If too $$$ seek same from classified ads here or e-bay. Advantage comes in play during maintenance, and your familiarity with your primary.

Sometimes it can't be helped, but price should not be at the top of your priorities for an octopus.
That said, the Cressi XS is a popular, low priced second that is simple and reliable. It is serviceable but nothing you'll be bragging about. It is a hard breather.
