Okay. So I've got a set of Apeks ATX 200's set up as a doubles rig that I'm thinking of buying to turn into a SM rig. Wouldn't take much. They've been serviced recently. Just need to add in an SPG on the one side. If I choose to use one in singles config I'm well prepared for that based on what I currently have and what the set comes with.
It's an older reg, but it's been serviced in the lasy few months. That said, if that dive shop that serviced the reg set is anything like one of my LDS's.....I wouldn't pay $5 for the rig.
I know the ATX line has a smaller exhaust valve that can send more bubbles straight up in front of my face, but I don't that's much different from the AL Titan's I dive right now. Bottom line....I'm used to it.
If it matters....it looks like they are the Tungsten version and not the chromed version. (I don't care about looks but I DO care about performance, and from what I've read, the Tungsten version has a better finish and may last longer than the chromed version.)
Feel free to hose me if I sound like I'm on drugs. I can take criticism, no problem. These regs just sound like a really good deal even though they're almost as old as my oldest kid. (Born Christmas 2001)
If I'm drunk, please talk me out of it. I'd hate to spend $550 CAD on something that's a waste of air. OTOH....I'd hate to miss out on a deal if they've barely seen water and even though they're an older set they perform as well or better than regs made today.
Side note: I've purchased the bible and intend to service my own regs from now on. Maybe this makes a difference, maybe not. What say you?
