I have two older Jvalves that once were on US Divers Aluminum tanks. The tanks must have been from mid to late 70's?. They had belonged to my brother in law and had low serial numbers. Below 500. Are the valves scrap?

No, no reason to not use them if they operate smoothly and don't leak. They can be rebuilt if necessary
