Oly remote control

OK, new question for all you helpful souls. Trying to use the remote control (not UW) and it won't work. Should it have come with a battery in it? I don't have a screwdriver small enough to check.

It comes installed with a battery.
Maybe a stupid suggestion: Did you switch the camera into remote mode before trying the remote?

Does that involve the little timer/remote button? Then yes, I think.

There is a plastic tab that you have to pull out first, or did you do that already?

The camera needs to be set in remote mode for the remote to work. You can check if the batteries are ok and the remote is transmitting:
Turn the camera on and set it to P mode. Put the remote in front of the lens and press the button - you should see a faint glow from the remote's LED when you look in the viewfinder.
