I don't see the D-550 listed on Digi Deep but the D-510 can be used with an Oly PT-09.

Why don't you contact Olympus?

I've been searching for marine housing for Olympus D550 Zoom myself. I found the PT-009 and like Dee stated, it will work for the D510.

So, I starting looking for the dimensions and specs on the 510 to see how they matched against the 550. I found a site that gave me the information and I pulled out my owner's manual on the 550 to compare.

What a shock! Right on the front of my owner's manual, it states it's the manual for the D-550 Zoom and the C-300 Zoom (as apparently it was marketed in every other country other than the US under C-300).

So, back to the sites that tell me about the PT-009. I found out it would handle the C-300 Zoom and I've been doing a happy dance all day.

=-)

jwnca,

Do the D-550 and the C-300 share the same size specifications or do they just share a similar operating system, this would make a big difference. I also have the D-550 and have been extending much effort into finding a suitable housing. I have received several quotes for a custom housing ($800) but they have no been resonable. The only other problem I run into with this particular camera is that a slave strobe seems the only possibility. This isn't bad, just expensive. Please keep us informed if you find additional information.

The dimensions between the D510 and D550 are almost exact. I went to this site for the dimensions of the D510

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/d510.html

According to the site, the dimensions for the D510 are:
4.6" (W) x 2.6" (H) x 1.9" (D) - 117.5mm (W) x 66.5mm (H) x 49.5mm (D)

While the dimensions according to the paper manual for the D550 are:
4.6" (W) x 2.6" (H) x 2.0" (D) - 117.5mm (W) x 66.0mm (H) x 49.5mm (D)

Olympus's website indicates something that is a bit different and matches the D510's dimensions exactly

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/productcompare/productcompare.asp

Take notice this is the American Olympus site. The European Olympus site didn't have anything under C-3000, but did have C-300Zoom. Its specifications are on this site.

This next site also states the PT-009 is compatible with the D550

I haven't purchased it yet, and still wondering if Ikelite's 6130 will work with the D550, for it works with the C-3000.

http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/oly6130sin.html

The only things is, Ikelite is significantly more $$. There was a post stating the PT's usually don't accommodate a stay and arm, but this site demonstrates they do. (Bottom of the page for the PT-009)

I'm going on a dive off of California’s channel islands in about 3 weeks and I'm hoping to take my D550, but considering the site above is out of stock and when I try to call the number I get an answering machine indicating it's some women's office without identifying the Underwater Digital company.

Here's some PT-009 sites that you may find helpful:

I've have someone from this site

http://www.backscatter.com/

calling their contacts at Olympus to see if they can get a better answer. He indicated he probably have some sort of answer by the end of this week. So, when I get an answer, I'll post it here.

Allan owns Underwater Digital and is a member here. In the past 6 mo. or so, his Mother was ill and he was having to travel to take care of her. He hasn't been answering his phone or emails and no one has spoken to him. I then heard he was closing his business for a while. Of course this is say so and did not come from him, just someone who should know.

If you get a response, please let us know.
