what is the best conditioning to do?

Irvine empasizes states that having dense capillary beds will allow better offgassing. if you're in good aerobic shape you will be more efficient in your o2 consumption

but for the strenuous task (climbing with heavy doubles etc), being stronger obviously will reduce the straining. but increased muscle mass should increase baseline metabolic rate.

so do we pump iron?
train for better cardiovascular endurance?

i realize optimizing both would be ideal, but for discussion which is the more important.

thanks

Dear dtdiver:

Aerobic Fitness

I also believe that dense capillary beds are good for the elimination of nitrogen. However, there is a need for some activity during off gassing or these capillaries will not stay open.

Exercise that increases your maximum oxygen uptake is best for inert gas elimination during the off gassing portion of the dive. Whatever training techniques work best to boost your max oxygen uptake is good.
