My son (Age 11, Jr. OW) and I would like to dive Lake Winnipesaukee tomorrow (Saturday, July 21) afternoon.

I spoke to the folks at Dive Winnipesaukee, and they don't appear to have any boats planned for that afternoon (I'm waiting for confirmation from Tom).

What other options are out there? Are there other shops that might have boats going out? Any good shore dives that are worth doing?

We'll be in Alton Bay, so sites close to there would be great.

I've dove McKinney (in Wolfeboro) but not Ellacoya (in Gilford).

I will second McKinney. I found the grooves (from glaciers) in the boulders there pretty interesting. Also I have fed the bass the fresh water clams off the bottom.

A boat dive off the Dive Winni boat is a waste of $. McKinney park is about as good as what you'll get from a boat dive and save you $$. Stay close to shore and have a flag (Boaters!) You can get into cool staring contests with the bass! Though I still find myself looking under rocks for lobsters.
