Eventually booked my Pemba trip! Spending a few days at Manta Reef Lodge in January. Anyone got any tips and pointers?

While I am stuck on a Platinum mine debating the finer details of concrete reinforcing, you are going to be diving, sun-tanning, drinking and then ****ing. I have to find another job.

Pemba is fantastic. I've been there on Dec 2001.
I stayed at Swahili divers' though, in chake chake.
Misali Island is a must. and try to go the East coast.
One day I saw (we were on the boat) 100 doplhins. No kidding. Then sail fish, napoleon fish, big murrays ... awesome.
I'll check in my log book and give you more details on the dive sites.

Head Banger (Misali Isl)
Murray's Wall (Misali Isl)
Manta Point (Fundu Isl)
Coral Pipe (East Coast)
Ramadan Reef (East Coast)
Tips: Pemba is a heaven for MOSQUITOS. lots, lots, lots.
Malaria. Cloroquine (do not know the spelling in English, sorry)resistent.
Laryam could be OK but it has bad drawbacks for scubadiving like vertigo ...
I took cloroquine (1 x week) + Proguanile (2 per day).
Use abundant repellent, and do not use dark clothes.
Drink a lot (not alcohol ) and check that whatever you drink comes from a closed bottle.
Check DAN website for other medical tips.
Have a wonderful vacation!!
