I see a ton of threads on cameras but not much on editing software. I do not want to go out and buy really expensive and hard to use photoshop software but I want to be able to color correct pictures and cut up and edit videos while adding text or narration to videos.

I am far from a professional photographer just want to have some good pics/videos to share with out having someone watch a 30min video of bubble noises.

LR for me works on the pics(well---most of the time, see post below)........not too bad on the cost either......

EDIT...........I'm not much into videos, but when I do I use Movie Maker--it allows you to combine multiple videos, add some texts, & (as you say) it gets rid of the bubbles & lets you replace them with music---& best part, it's FREE........can't get any less cost than that...:)

Here's a short video I put together a couple weeks ago from MM........

......(I'm not gunna get to the part & tell the OP where I cheat & send them to Picasa after LR.....don't want to confuse him/her....:))

Octo----just thought of another program if you use a Canon camera........It's called DPP(Digital Photo Professional--a FREE software program Canon offers when purchasing one of their products) -----& in fact I wound using it--vs LR--for most of my pics I took on this dive(click below link)...I edited the 1st several for this dive in LR & wasn't 100% happy with the way they were turning out, tried the same ones in DPP & for some reason it 'helped out' more than LR....Google it & you'll find out all the info you need .............Here's one pic & more below @ Album link..........

Go to the Adobe site and download PS and LR. Try them out, see which one works for you. For $10/month you can get a subscription to LR and PS. Otherwise find a student/take a photo class at your local community college and get LR via the student price. Enjoy

I use Lightroom exclusively. I shoot RAW. In underwater photography, white balance changes rapidly. RAW allows for the adjustment of white balance without penalty. RAW also allows for more adjustment of highlights and shadows then JPEG. Lightroom is a RAW processor. I find I can do what I want with Lightroom so I have not bothered with Photoshop. Now, there are other RAW processing programs out there. I think Canon offers a pretty basic one when you buy a camera.

.................It's DPP---works better(edits better) for some of my pics than LR-----see above WS pic, those on that album all turned out better in DPP than with LR....& it's free like I said.........
