My friend & I have booked a liveaboard for 6 days in November out of Phuket but were also wondering if there are any good shore diving sites ? If so where would be a good place to rent tanks & weights?

There are a couple of nice sites at Kata Beach, both at the Northern and Southern end. You can also make trips to the island directly in front of the Northern end. Is close by, and won't take long by longtail.
On both sites you will find lots of juvenile life, really nice diving, both during the day and night time.
