Student can not equalize so she went to the doctor. Doctor says her tubes are all clear but her eardrum does not move. Anyone ever hear of this or have this issue repaired?

Needs to see an ENT. Can’t physically see the Eustachian tube openings without a pharyngoscopy i don’t think. Not personally an ENT. But that description does not sound as though a specialist made any kind of diagnosis. If there is a problem the ENT can dilate the Eustachian tubes or remove tonsils (*edit adenoids maybe? Not sure if these affect the Eustachian tubes or not) etc if needed. But I suspect the problem is rare. I don’t know the incidence. Just a lowly belly surgeon.

But I suspect most people with genuine inability to equalize would have found out on their first plane ride or trip to a mountain. Again defer to any actual specialists.

If she can't equalize, then her tubes are probably not all clear. DM sent.
