I finished reading Pirate HUnters, a story about the search for the remains of a pirate vessel by John Chatterton and a team of divers. The sleuthing that goes on reminds us that so much of shipwreck research is done in dusty old archives and chasing down leads. In this case, the archives are the Archive of the Indies in Spain and the New York public library. Chasing leads means talking to the aging high-men of shipwreck research, including Robert Marx. Using terms like "can't put it down" and "page turner" are overused in reviewing books. In this case, it is not cliche. I found myself staying up late and waking up early to continue reading this book. In the end, the mystery is solved, though, not by blindly following the leads, but by using intuition and thinking like the pirate. It leads them right to the spot. Definitely a book worth including on the bookshelf.
