I am trying to figure out the best place(s) to put weights for the best balanced trim. On my last time diving I found that when I seemed to be properly weighted at the surface, when I am at 30 feet, if I don't move at all, I slowly flip on my back like my tank really wants to be on the bottom. I was in the Red Sea, wearing a 3mm full wet suit, 20 lbs on a weight belt. I am a bit overweight (as in a Rubens painting) so I am pretty sure that I need that much weight. I was with an instructor and he added weight to my tank strap for a second dive, which did not make sense to me.

I am still renting (haven't bought any equipment yet), so it doesn't help in understanding that I vary my equipment.

Is this a sign of incorrect amount of weight, placement of weight, klutzy newby unskilledness, or is this normal?
