Playa: Gala Resort or Iberostar Paraiso?

My friends and I want to stay in either the Iberostar Paraiso or the Gala Resort Playacar in/near Playa del Carmen. Does anyone have any neg/pos to say about either? We will be leaving the beginning of August.

We will be diving in Cozumel, but want to stay in Playa del Carmen.

Someone I know at work just came back from the Iberostar Paraiso. He said he liked it very much. Enjoyed the location & the all-inclusive. Said breakfast & lunch were good, but not too impressed w/ the dinners. All in all he gave it a great review.

Can't help w/ the other hotel, other than just general info. Like number of rooms, bars, restaurants etc...

We stayed at the Iberostar Quatzel last Feb. I thought it was just great. Great accomodations, food, and service. Make sure you get the all-inclusive. You can eat and drink all day. They also have an on-site dive operation. I didn't charter out with them because I thought they were a little pricey. I went out with Sea Safaris out of Playa del Carmen. The pool and beach are fabulous. The grounds are like living in a jungle - monkeys, peacocks, tapirs, flamingos, parrots, etc. run uncaged throughout the grounds.
