My brother and I recently found ourselves in a very uncommon situation: We were staying at a resort (Coco view) with unlimited shore diving, 24 hrs a day, with a large wreck shore diveable in about 50 ft of water. The entry to dive the wreck was literally twenty feet from the door of our room. Surf at this location averaged about 6 inches. Given the easy access, we decided to do a series of night dives on the wreck and use the opportunity to un-mount our Keldan video lights from our camera housing and experiment a bit. We found the that projecting light from places other than the camera location really tested the low-light ability of the camera, but also created some really cool images. After seeing the results we will definitely be incorporating this technique on our wreck diving trips here at home in California and anywhere else we go. Here is the video we shot at night:
