I'm a Fish!
Does anyone know of a pool in the VA/DC/MD area that you can dive in? My girlfriend just finished her OW and wants to try out the BC she bought in a pool before we go to Millbrook. Our building has a pool but Charles E. Smith Residential gave me quite a lecture about maintaining a "classy apperence." Any ideas?

Call Splash Dive Center (703.823.7680, they have a pool several nights and weekends- Lee District Pool in Alexandria or Chinquapin Rec Center.

Millbrook has a ramp entry on Beach 1 and six platforms at 30 feet.

Millbrook or Rawlings are an ideal place to try out a new BC, not the pool.

I agree, but she doesn't like the cold or low viz. I ended up getting the apartment people to let us when I pointed out that they dont have a problem with people snorkeling in the pool...the manager agreed that SCUBA is similar but that we had to do it when nobody else was there.

Lake Rawlings has 30+ foot vis and is getting near 70 degrees if you stay above 30 feet. There are a couple training platforms to use and she won't bleach her new bc like she will in a pool. Milbrook is perhaps a bit colder and murkier this time of year, but I've seen some surprisingly good days there.

A group from DC/NOVA Meet-Up is going down to Rawlings this weekend.

That aside, I know The Dive Shop-VA has something called "scuba doodling" that takes place in the nearby YWCA pool. http://www.thediveshop-va.com/scuba_doodling.htm
I haven't done it because I don't see much use in diving in a pool.
