Anyone Dove one of theses regs?

I have a friend who is upgrading to the 5000,
and he is willing to give me his set of 300's

I have tried the set in a pool, and was impressed with how very easy it was to breathe from them.

The set has 2, 300 second stages and the first stage He also has the metric to english adapters
but I'll have to provide my own LP and HP hoses.

So how about it? anyone with experience with
these reg have any opinions?

Thanks

Cyklons are a great old workhorse, they were so far ahead of the competition 30 years ago that the 2nd stages are still practically identical. They even use the same rebuild kits.
The 1st stages were upgraded a couple times, yours is the early model.
The regs in question are probably from the early to mid 70's.
Parts are still easy to get.
If you're going to be diving in very cold water, get an antifreeze kit for it. (The Cyklon was the very first single hose reg to have freeze protection, that's why I finally put the double hose into semi-retirement)

Bob3,
I'm land locked in Oklahoma City, OK.
Most of my diving has been done in local
lakes.

I havn't been certified that long, (Just PADI OW)
I have paid for my Avanced, and intend to be
Rescue diver trained by the end of the summer.

I read alot and have several friends who dive.
My sister got me to get ceritifed, she recently
lost her husband to a boating (Not diving)
accident in washington state where he was stationed at Ft. Lewis. He was her dive buddy,
and when she moved back here she informed me that I was her new dive buddy and got me
certified.

I have always liked the old double hose regs,
and have dove mine in pools with friends,
several times over the years, even before I
was certified. but never in open water. If you
walk in to a shop around here and ask if they
can do an inspection on a double hose, they
look at you, like your dealing in black magick
or something I was very happy to find Vintage
Scuba Supply.

The Poseidon thing was looking too good
to pass up, especially since he just got
them rebuilt in december at a Poseidon
dealership in Tulsa Okalhoma. But I
thought I'd ask here and get opinions.
if I didn't want them he was going to sell
them on ebay, so I didn't want to take
them if I wasn't going to use them.

Thanks

Hi there,

I still dive two Cyklon 300 first and second stages regularly, viz they are my primary set of regs for use on twin independents (twins) and I even use them on single tank dives occasionally though a conshelf 21 gets a workout from time to time as well.

They are a great reg and even though the deepest I have had them is 180 feet (55M) on a regular basis. I have had no trouble at all with the breathing effort at that depth, in fact they are great.

Other than some more stage regs I can not think of a better reg for my diving.

Regards,

My_way.

They've been described as the Land Rover of diving regulators. I own 8. The regulator of choice by British cave divers. Used widely by various navies, commercial divers etc. etc.

The LP hose is not standard so you are best advised to get OEM ones though other hoses can be made to fit.

IMHO the 300 is better than the 5000. One of my friends traded his 5000's for some 300's!

... 300 is better than the 5000...
According to the 2003 dealer pricelist, the Cyklon 5000 with metal tube (as opposed to the plastic) is their most expensive reg in the lineup, beating out the new Xstream by $70 (retail).

Where does one get the Metric to US
LP adapters for Poseidon Metric first stages?

Also I'm told that the HP fitting is a Non standard size, is this correct?

Wonder if I could just find an US first stage
somewhere and put the seconds on that.

Thanks
