We did visit the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London and had examinations plus tests done - a follow up appointment is to take place in 2 weeks but all tests so far came out negative (including Chikungunia, Dengue and Zika). I personally think that although some viral infection is possible (or already took place and is now gone) we are looking at inner ear and vestibular issues combined with potential complications from such an infection. I will report with any new developments, but also really appreciate all the posts, thank you!

Just had a thought regarding the foot issues - it is possible that they might have trapped a nerve or given a nerve a bit of a tear with the exertion of moving heavy gear about. That combined with being relatively immobile for a long period (on the flights) might not have helped. Might be worth speaking to a chiropractor/osteopath or physio.
