Probably a very silly question.

WOW, Scuba was "not for them"???
I didnt know people like that existed .... are you still friends after that? .. hehe .. I'm totally joking but you are right, some people just aren't cut out for scuba or even the outdoors period. Scuba equipment can be a large investment for some and knowing this is really what you want to do ahead of time if a really good idea.

On the positive side, if taken care of and maintained properly, scuba diving equipment can last a VERY long time!

:D

Hello,
I Started this Thread to address some concerns about Claustrophobia and fears in general while diving.

Claustrophobia can be a real concern for many, but as most divers find, scuba diving gives you a feeling of quite the opposite. A good buddy can really help with these and many other underwater fears. I thought this topic could use its own thread so I started it Here.

=-)

Actually, many places no longer place the tank in water. Water baths are not effective in cooling the air in the tank and just offer an opportunity for the fill whip to be dropped into the water and then introduce a bit of water into the tank.

They do and should place the tank into a blast basin, just in case the tank lets go. It can and does on rare occasions happen that a tank will explode while being filled. The blast is quite powerful. http://www.connected.bc.ca/~baquatics/explode.html

Please don't laugh me out of the room : ) I am trying to find out how the tanks are refilled. Can you help me?
Thanks

Don't listen to all those "technical" answers. Lets call it like it is. The tank is filled like this....

The tank filler guy puts the tank in a big sink with water in it. Then the tank is hooked up to one of those thing-a-magiggies. Then the guy turns that round knob and watches the long pointy thing on the dial turn. Then he turns a switch attached to a long hose and there is a hissing noise. After watching that long pointy thing on the dial move up a little, he turns a round knob to the left...or is that to the right. Anyway, then he presses a round plastic thing on the hose and there is another hissing noise. Then he takes that hose off the thing and THATS HOW ITS DONE (at least how I see it).

Way to resurrect a 4 year old thread, guys
