Is the Ikelite 6140.57 housing (for Canon A570 camera) compatible with the Sea & Sea YS27 DX Strobe?

Thanks

The YS27 is a optical triggered strobe, so it should work with nearly any housing. The challenge is in connecting the optical link to the housing, you need the fiber optic sync cord and a mask of some sort (to block internal strobe). Sea&Sea made these for the YS25 but I don't see a replacement with the mask on their site.

Of course, you may really want to consider a different strobe. The YS27 is low price, which is likely what is making it attractive. You may want to look at the YS110 for about $150 more, if the higher price is an option. Another option would be the all new Ikelite AF35 or one of the Inon strobes.

Any particular reason you are looking at the Sea&Sea? Is it that your local shop pushes it, as mine tried and failed?

I was looking at the INON D2000, the AF35, and the YS27. My dive shop carries the YS27 setup and will sell it to me for less than I can find it online. I posted a thread about which people like best... http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/strobes-lighting/214833-strobe-questions.html and there wasn't really a winner. So I decided to go with what my dive shop carries and can help me setup.
