I have a Nikon 4600 and am a noob. I hear alot about

"I set the camera to f 2.8 (as low as it will go) and a shutter speed of 1/60,"

The instructions with the camera suck and I see no setting to change these options. The only option I see is exposure time showing as +2 to -2. Where are these settings?

The following link might help. Imaging-resource.com publishes reviews of digital cameras. These reviews are so thorough they can substitute for the camera manual.

Of special interest to you might be the assist modes, for portrait, landscape or sports. Scroll down about halfway to the camera modes and menus section.
