This is a condensed report of my trip to 3 races in 2 days after traveling across the country. I took this trip with my Father-in-Law, Benny Preston (aka Grumpy Claus) www.grumpyclaus.com

Friday Night I boarded a plane bound for Charlotte, NC from Los Angeles, CA. Arrived in Charlotte at 8:00am saturday and checked in. Took a nap. Got up and headed to Lowe's Motor Speedway for the Busch Race.

Left the race a little early to go to Robby Gordon's shop for a private BBQ and autograph session. Went to get some sleep.

Got up at 3:30am Sunday morning to drive back to Lowe's Motor Speedway to board a chartered bus to Charlotte airport. Boarded the Hooters plane, private charter. Flew to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 to watch Robby Gordon attempt to race his first of 2 races that day. On the runway at Ind. we boarded buses with police escort to the Speedway. Because of the rain delay, and subsequent stoppage at lap 29, Robby had to leave to get back to LMS. We re-boarded the buses and were wisked to the airport. We were driving down the wrong side of the street at times. Got on the plane and flew back to Charlotte for the Coca Cola 600. Again with police escort from the airport to the Speedway.

There are many other interesting details that made the trip interesting but don't want to bore you. It was a lot of travel. Just flew back into L.A. this morning. Had a great time. Yesterday we visited Richard Childress Racing and Hendricks Motorsports. Both have museums of NASCAR racing history. I especially enjoyed the Dale Earnhardt stuff. I just wish I'd had time to dive N.C. while there.

Hmm, only word that comes to mind is JEALOUS. Glad you had a great time.

But - I don't understand... you said a "Racing Fan." Where is the racing???

Sure, there's some low tech circley stuff there, but what about real racing? Bring on the ChampCars and F1, baby! Now, THAT'S racing!

Yes, that's right. I did say "racing fan" because I am a fan of many types of racing. Interesting that you would assume that just because I didn't attend a CART or F1 race that in your eyes I'm not a "real" racing fan. Seems pretty narrow minded of you. I attend as many racing events as I can. True, I've never been to a F1 race only because I've never had the opportunity but I've been to many CART races. You'd probably be appalled that I go to drag races too!

I posted so people who might be interested in what I did over the weekend could read about it, not criticize it.

The US Grand Prix is coming up in 2 weeks, now might be a good chance to go. Plane tickets are still really cheap if you fy in to Cincinatti.

And you don't need to buy tickets to the US Grand Prix - the scalpers will be practically giving them away!

Scott - I should have used a smiley. It was good natured ribbing, I'm sorry you didn't take it that way.
