I store my Reefmaster SL320 battery door open as I don't have any of the desiccant they recommend to use in the locked door. Do you think this system is OK?

Also, what do you think about using some silicone lube on the O ring for the door?

The recommendation for keeping the dessicant in the Mini is to keep moisture away from the electronics. Depending on where you are, keeping the door open might allow moisture to get in and create havoc! If you don't have a dessicant and are sure no water/moisture has enetered into the camera, then keep the door closed that way moisture in the air will not damage the electronics.

Lube Bad! The o-rings we use do not require any lubrication. This might just cause a leak as lube tends to attract hairs and particles that can cause leaks.
