There is a great opportunity to participate in a beach and reef cleanup and at the same time sponsor a good cause, the Savaanhuis in Curacao. The Savaanhuis is a facility providing therapy and structured learning for children who experience difficulties in their daily lives because of disabilities like autism or social emotional problems of any kind.
This event, the Savaanhuis Ocean Splash (S.O.S), is organized by the Savaanhuis in conjunction with Silent Immersion and takes place on Saturday 4th of April 2009.
The clean-up is in the morning starting at 9 and in the afternoon from 1 - 4 PM there is an S.O.S BBQ and happy hour. Both events start at the dive center Silent Immersion.
The sponsoring means that there is an entrance fee for each of these events, Nafl 35,- for the cleanup (including equipment and tanks) and Nafl 20,- for the BBQ. All proceeds go to the Savaanhuis.
If you happen to be on vacation on the island or if you are a local diver on the island this is a great way to show your involvement with the Savaanhuis and the underwater world.
