Howdy,
I am a dive instructor living in the pacific northwest. I am contemplating a move to the San Diego area (ready for some more sun). I havent yet had the chance to dive San Diego, and I was wondering if I could get some dive site review? I am hoping to find great year round diving, both shore and boat. I have heard generally good things about San Diego, but would love to hear some stories that would entice me to move further? Is it hard to get hooked up with dive buddies? What are the shops like? so many questions....any info would be helpful.
Much thanks and best regards
edward

Welcome to the sun, Edward! You will see by just "hanging around here" that there is alot of active divers in the SanDiego area and just north of there. For starters check out a few brave souls that entered their names on the roll call ( http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=78767 page 6 ) Also, check out our
"sticky" on general info. ( http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=131465 page 4 ) Note: as a group we get down to SD 3 - 4 times/ year on a boat plus the same for a SD beach "picnic" ( aka: Mo2vation & Wrinkles dives ). You'll love it down here and I'll let the locals chime in as I'm just a regular visitor to SD as my daughter lives there. Dive save & enjoy!

Check out DiveBums. Lots of information on San Diego diving there. I'll also post some dive reports on my website next week on the dives I do there this weekend. :D

thanks everyone for the responses! I will take a detailed look at all the links when i get home from work. Getting excited!

I am visiting San Diego next week on a business trip, so I thought about flying in one day earlier and doing some diving. But all of the dive operators I've checked so far (Dive Connections, Inc., Lois Ann, etc.) do not do dives on Wednesdays :-( Any idea who does?

Not sure, but you can always do some shore dives. I know there are a couple of groups that go out on a regular basis there. Post your own thread and you might get some takers.
