Hola,

Anyone have a recommendation for a charter out of Crystal River for some Scalloping?

Prefer to scuba, most charters appear to only offer snorkeling.

Would love to get out there this weekend from Orlando.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you really don't need to dive. Most of the scalloping is done in 3-5ft of water. Although my husband was wondering if there were any spots deeper out that wouldn't be such a zoo.

I'm not familiar with options in Crystal River, but an hour or so north is Steinhatchee. The Sea Hag Marina rents boats (although I'd wager they're booked till the end of the season. It gets crazy up there!). Are you looking for a charter or to rent a boat?

Looking for a charter really. I know last season the grass beds were deeper out and snorkeling was not terribly easy. You are right on the money with wanting something a bit less accessible to avoid the horde of snorkelers.

just out of curiosity....... what kind of license do you need for the scallops?...is it different than the general fishing/lobster stamp license?

oh that's cool...thanks for the info...
