Scuba speak in espanol

Anyone fluent in spanish and know scuba vocabulary?

I speak tourist spanish well but i don't know the words for scuba diving and scuba gear. I have never needed to use spanish with the dive shops but it would be nice to learn the words for scuba diving, fins, mask, reef, etc...

Buceo is diving. Modela del mar is dive model (sort of).

It's not directly related but after a couple of dives I order "una cerveza con limon y sal por favor" which means 1 beer with lime and salt please. I usually have a taco also which is "taco" in Spanish.

Seriously, it's a good question. I always knew buceo but managed by pointing at things.... Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't really had many issues communicating in English with any DM's, instructors or shop managers. However, captains can be a little difficult. YMMV.

Scuba: Buceo
To Scuba dive: Bucear
Scuba diver: Buceador
Fins: Aletas or Patas de Rana
Mask: Máscara
Snorkel: Tubo (Not 100 % sure since most people call it snorkel)
Tanks-Tanques
Suit: Traje
BC (Jacket): Chaleco de Buceo
Regulator: Regulador
Reef: Arrecife
Fish: Pez (singular) Peces (Plural)

Maybe someone else with a better vocabulary can add some more or correct any mistake I might have made.

I've usually seen fins as aletas, and BC jacket as simply chaleco. Mask as visor, belt as cinturon, and weights as plomos.

Tip is propina.

IG dive did a good job...here are a few more I canthink of right now:

lancha = small boat
barco = big boat
embarcacion = general term for boat

muelle = pier
bajar = go down/decend
subir = come up/ascend
bitacora = log book
deep = profundo
shallow = bajo

I'm not fuly awake yet, but if you have specific terms you want to know that hhaven't been answered, let us know.
