Yeah, that's what I've read. But I grew up in Puerto Rico and I dive every year in the Keys. I swear the first time I heard about these things was when my wife brought it up in reference to this Cayman trip...unless this is the same thing we used to call "agua mala".

I have heard the thimble jellyfish larvae thing referred to as "pica pica" in latin-speaking countries. See Pica Pica, PicaPica, critters in the water... for an account.
