I'm a Fish!
Hi i use Dx-1200HD for underwater photography, but last week after downloading the pictures to my computer, I haven't been able to use my camera. the camera lens doesn't come out, and it switches off automatically. I can view the pictures and i can got to the settings..but cannot go to the shooting mode. Is there anybody who can help me out. This is my second camera so i don't want to waste this.!!! thanks you guys in advance.

HI-
Sorry to hear of your issue, please contact your regional distributor or the retailer where the camera was purchased for warranty/support information. If the camera was purchased from a US retailer, please visit the link HERE and follow return instructions.
Thank you.

I purchased an HD 1200 this week and I think the camera is great, at least conceptually.

I haven't had the camera in the water yet, but I have been using it on land to get familiar with all the controls and features before taking it on a dive.

My problem is syncing with my existing Sealife 960 Flash. The Sealife is configured to fire as a slave when it sees the flash of the camera. I've used the camera both in and out of the housing. The flash works well when out of the housing but when in the housing pictures of the same subject come out dark...really dark, even though the slave flash is firing! It appears as if the housing is causing the camera to cut off the shutter before the external flash fires.

I've tried both with the diffuser in place and with it retracted...same issue.

My dealer is clueless.....his answer is that I need to buy a mega expensive Sea & Sea external flash unit....from them..of course! I don't believe this is the only solution. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Attached are two photos...One with the set up out of the housing, the other in the housing.

We have had our Sea&Sea now for a year, it has been on two trips. Overall we enjoy the pictures & videos, however more times than I care to count it jams while underwater, can't even turn it off. In the troubleshooting guide it suggests removing the battery and reinserting. Obviously this advise doesn't work under water, so therefore you are stuck with carrying it as dead weight during the rest of the dive. Any tips for this issue would be great.

The 3" LCD on the 1200HD (and any other compact digital camera) heats up quickly and when in a housing with no ambient cool air can cause the camera to lock as you describe. We recommend only turning the camera power on once you have entered the water and begun your dive(s). If during the dive, you will not be shooting, turn off the camera. The power up is very quick, less than 1-2 seconds and this will help to prevent the unit from becoming too hot.
