We have just come back from a week with Scubatravel onboard the Sea Serpent. We booked a Wrecks and Reefs 7 night full board on the Sea Serpent. However due to the fact that another group of divers from Ukraine came onto our boat on the second last day, we were brought to a hotel for the last night and following day. We as a group were very upset by this as we ended up in the Ivory Suites hotel on a road near the airport, nowhere near the sea (despite what their website says). The hotel is at best a 3 star and that is being generous. The evening meal was dreadful. They tried to charge us for water and we had to argue and eventually were given a bottle each. We pointed out that the boat was full board but to no avail. The staff were rude and surly. Breakfast the following morning was also bad. The hotel has a tiny pool which gets hardly any sun. This hotel only costs €30 a night for 2 people so its very very cheap. We contacted Scubatravel on the Friday and outlined our complaints. We did not get anywhere. Tristan from Scubatravel told us 'it looks nice and is on the beach'...well it was obvious he was looking at their website. Obviously they did not have personal experience of it which is not good customer service.

Has anyone ever had the same experience ? Some of our group had been with Scubatravel many times and the standard of the hotels has always been 5 star. So they were very angry at their experience on this trip. It was our first trip so did not have past experiences to go on. The other thing is that they advertise the Sea Serpent has having free WIFI. It doesnt have any WIFI....never had. so I ended up as a non diver doing email the odd time with a €300 phone bill. Not happy ! Just wondering does this happen often ? We are intending to go to the Red Sea again in the Spring but maybe other tour operators are better than Scubatravel ? It now appears that they knew before we departed from Gatwick that we would be offloaded on the Thursday but they didnt tell us !
