I never thought about regulator rinse tanks before- I was never sick on a dive trip before... I appreciate your pointing things out to me!
 
I have never seen cleaner looking rinse tanks anywhere than those a Buddy drive through. Did you report the illness to their office? If it is coming from Buddy, there should be others.

So can tap water. But I still feel better usung the rinse tank that is obviously changed quite frequently than thee one that has the same old sock laying on the bottom that was there two days ago.
