Just received this email from Shearwater today.
Just an FYI (I can't complain about this when there are thousands and thousands of workers furloughed or working without pay).
But on a side note, I still find it hard to believe that they went with technology that can't handle collisions from a mere 2 transmitters. Might have to give the Suunto EON Steel some serious consideration.
We would like to thank you for your patience during this recall process on the yellow transmitters.
At this point we are not sure when we will be able to send out the yellow transmitter replacements. Since a US company manufactured the transmitters, the US government has to do a thorough investigation of the problem and resolve.
Shearwater is waiting on the US Government to okay the release of the new yellow transmitters. The government agency overseeing this process is closed due to the government shutdown. Until the government shutdown is over, we will not have any new information. When our government is up and running again, it may take some time for that agency to get caught up. We do not know where we stand as far as importance.
We are very sorry we cannot be more precise.
On Shearwater’s behalf, we apologize for this delay and inconvenience.
