planning a 4 day quick trip to Grand Bahama Island in June. looking for a better place to stay where they won't mind divers. We have looked at the Sheraton of lacaya this time.

any reviews on it? how is it? how is the beach there? am I going to be constantly harrassed by "bahama mammas"? we stayed at xanado last time, when we went to the beach we were attacked by them. I have a buzz cutt and they still kept asking me to get braids. is the sheraton's beach better than that?

we are diving with Grand Bahama Scuba, went with them last time and Fred is the best there is, so I am not looking for another dive operator just a hotel.

TIA,
Seth

I have stayed at the Sheraton, but would not go back. I liked Pelican Bay better. Walk to the Sheraton, use the beaches, casino, etc. But Pelican bay had much nicer (and much much quieter) rooms, the free breakfast was great, and the pools and bars relaxing instead of crazy busy. Oh, and the rooms have great balconies for drying out some of your stuff (but I think you can leave most of it with Fred anyway)

www.pelicanbayhotel.com There are a number of reviews on tripadvisor.com of the hotel, but it is either under Lucaya or Grand Bahama and is tricky to find.

I just love Grand Bahama Scuba -- I could go on for pages, they are the best.

by the way,
At either the Shearton or Westin you won't be harrassed on the beach, but you will get a little bit at the marketplace across the street, but nothing too bad.

Grand Bahama Scuba was great, I dove with them this week!
