Thank you for the replies and information.

Gene is a great guy.. Have exchanged information with him in the past and provided some humminbird images from several recoveries our unit has made. The Humminbirds are great units for the money no matter which model you have. We have been using them successfully for about 5 years and have been very impressed with the results when used properly and accepting their limitations.

I was interested in the distance between victims. Ex. ( they were all within a 20ft circle)..and the current present at the site of the recovery.

The old rule that a drowning victim will be found within a radius of the point of submergence(can be the LSP if it is accurate) equal to the depth of the water when the current is less than 1/2 knot has always proven true in recoveries I have worked.

When you have an event where multiple persons go in the water at the same location and time and are found on the bottom the information to be gained from a well documented recovery is always useful. It gives somewhat of a control in that the environment is the same .. while differences between one victim and the next exist. This was the reasoning for asking about the current and placement of the victims on the bottom....

The events we all respond to are always sad and tragic but the information that can be garnered from them and used to make future operations safer and faster should always be taken advantage of.
