I do not know what causes you headaches, but I can tell you about my personal experience. I suffered from quite bad headaches to a point where I almost stopped diving. What saved me was that one year ago I was on a liveaboard with two doctors, specialised in scuba medecine. They told me, after my explanations that I was maybe suffering from a small blockage in one upper sinus. I did a Scan of my sinuses and there it was. A small inflamation to the upper sinus due to a too small passage close to the eyes. Impossible to operate. So the recommendation was to spray a cortisone solution into the sinuses 30 minutes before a dive. Since then, no problem watsoever. What a difference.:D

I know that it is consider by some as bad practice in the sense that it could develop a "reverse block".:shakehead::no: But in my case, it saves my diving hobby:)

So, if after checking everything else, you find no solution, go to a ENT in order to get a real check of your sinuses.

Good luck

Hi Freewillow,

Thanks for sharing it. When u had a headache, were you feel pain on the front face (around your sinuses)?

Or was it somewere else? For my case, I don't have pain around my sinuses, that's why I eliminate sinus issue.

But I might be wrong....

Cheers,
Kebo

I had same problem in the past, started to have headach in the middle of the dive and after the dive, then misteriously it went away during the surface interval. Do you smoke? I got over my issue by 1) not going up and down underwater, even if it is deep, meaning after I decend, I slowly started to acend. Sometimes we see interesting stuff and during the acend, we go down again and quickly acend. Some people don:t have problem with that but I do, so I stopped doing that; 2)after the safty stop, I am extremely careful in acending from 5m to 0m, and I am slower than everyone else acending from 5m to 0m; and 3) I don:t know if you smoke, but if I smoke less, my headeach is gone. These are my ponts to note when I dive repetitively on a liveaboard. Hope it helps.
