I'm just curious to know how many people wear skins underneath their wetsuits. I've been thinking about buy one and I wanted to hear other people's opinions.

I wear one to make donning the wetsuit easier or to protect areas that my shorty doesn't cover when I dive in it. The proof is in my profile picture!

I would have to agree with Ber Rabbit. Wearing a skin definitely makes it easier to get the wetsuit on and off. It's also nice for the surface interval when you only want to peel the wetsuit down to the waist, as it gives a bit of sun protection as well. And another benefit for the ladies is that you don't have to worry about those embarrassing slips of the bathing suit top.

I had always worn a dive skin under my suit because it does make it easier to put on. Now I dive mostly with my Henderson Gold suit. The Gold suit is actually warmer without the dive skin because the special lining needs to be in contact with your body so that it will "stick" to your skin and decrease the amount of water that is "flushing" through.

Me and Marian always wear a skin.....we like the protection from the sun, and we like the layer between us and the wet suit.

A skin when diving 7mm. Not for protection, just to make donning bearable.
