Hey StephM! Thanks for posting that question. I seem to run cold all the time... even in the pool, I wore a skin, 5mm wetsuit, and a 5mm shorty over-top. It seems 1mm is the way to go for layering. I was going to go with a skin but am now thinking twice.
 
I keep a pair of thick wool hunting socks(short) to wear under a pair of neoprene socks, in boots for cold water dives. try layering up your feet with a pair of socks you already own. I've also used white cotton gym socks.
