Went there way back in the mid '70's after doing some business in Houston, and loved the place. Seems like they have an actice scuba scene there too now (Not much back in '73).

Three things attract me:-

1. Liberty Ship Wrecks
2. Reef diving
3. Proximity to Mexican Border and Cheap Food & Booze. LOL!

That's where I would choose to go, away from the madding crowd of FL and expensive Lifestyle. What's the point of saving on the airfare only to get ripped of at the destination;-)

Fly to LAX, dive Channel Islands kelp forests with us! We have lots of good boats.

Another possibility is here in NC. SW flies into Raleigh and it's a 2-3 hr drive to Morehead City or Wilmington. We have some of the best wrecks in the world and if you hit the right wreck there is a very good chance of seeing sand tiger sharks- up close. It's pretty common for them to come within several feet of divers. They are pretty docile and don't seem to mind divers at all.
