Hello.

That is a Google ad. Those are determined by your browsing history and search queries on google. Google determines your interests based on your browsing history and google searches, and then serves you ads based on that.

So you're awfully quick to blame and condemn SB though... really you have to ask the other question... yes?

I did the same thing.

FWIW - GOOGLE Ads all have a little "Ad Choices" Symbol on them... You can read the folowing information which explains how you can opt out of cookie based google ads.

Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw

What are AdChoices?

icon_enhanced_notice_lg.jpeg
The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services. In doing this, Google doesn't know your name or any other personal information about you. Google simply recognizes the number stored in your browser on the DoubleClick cookie, and shows ads related to the interest and inferred demographic categories associated with that cookie. It's our goal to make these ads as relevant and useful as possible for you. Google doesn't create categories, or show ads, based on sensitive topics such as race, religion, sexual orientation, or health.

What choices do I have about advertising from Google?

  • Google lets you edit the categories associated with your browser, or opt out of personalized advertising, through Google's Ads Preferences Manager.
  • Google may use your Google account information, such as items you +1 on Google properties and across the web, to personalize content and ads on non-Google websites. If you'd like to control how you see +1 recommendations from people you know, and how your +1 recommendations are shown to others, please visit the +1 button account setting page.

You have egg on your face with this post. Howard explained it correctly, your previous searches determined what you saw. This site has no control over the content of Google AdSense, but you do.

That's only partially true. Click on the funny icon to see how they arrange advertising. They have my particulars way out. I regularly clean cache and cookies. It keeps them guessing.

Welcome to the 21st century...

Yeah, those google ads are a riot. I did an internet search for condom caths for my dry suite. Then for the next 3 months I had pop up adds for all sorts of medical supplies and senior citizen stuff from diapers to viagra.

Nothing is free. SB is not free, they have cost and sell ad space to Google because most people (and I have to to include myself this year) are too cheap to pay SUPPORT even though we use SB constantly.

Google first sells add space at the top of their listing by the word. I.E. they bias their search to a degree by how much the companies are willing to pat. Next every time you search, they record and learn from it. They sell this to advertisers as targeted ads. Ever notice how when to search for a product you magically start seeing ads for that company on all sorts of sites.

Either you clean you cache and use private browsing or learn to live with it.

Googles ranking$$ have really screwed up its function. I used to be able to type in Joes Garage Miami and get Joes Garage, now I get results for 20 pages of, white pages, yellow pages, city directory, garages directory and if I click on garages directory I get a list of garages in Colorado and Kansas. I used to be able to type a phone number in and get a name and address, now I get ads for 10 pages of reverse directories. I google welder and the next time I'm in scubaboard it has followed me and is pushing welder ads. Progress, I don't think so.

Yup, they have screwed up a good system in the name of maximizing profit. The beauty of the internet is that if they keep on this path, another search engine company will have an opening to exploit. Too bad M/S screwed up Bing so bad. Anyway, I never claimed it was progress, just how the system works.
