I dont know the full story, but it has been reported in the local Pattaya press that a recent seawalker adventure to Koh Sak has resulted in the death of an Indian tourist.

The worst thing any diver can do is to cut fishing lines or net bouys. Nets will fish for years drifting in the water column or even hung up on wrecks, tangled or drifting fishing line is another hazard, even to divers. Best thing to do is take pictures of the problem and report to the authorities who can then retrieve the equipment and look for the owners.

It doesn't work that way here in Thailand / Asia.
It's mainly (professional) recreational divers who organize and conduct reef clean ups.

Reporting to local authorities does mostly unfortunately not result in immediate action...
