Hi everyone,

Just wanted to alert everyone of a free *Squid* dive (Night) at Veterans Park in Redondo, Wednesday February 23rd. I will be there!!! Call to reserver your spot!

Even if we don't see squid, Redondo Beach/ Submarine Canyon is a really cool night dive with lots of marine life. Last weeks dive reported 20-30' viz!!!

For more info, see link. http://www.reefseekers.com/NL-PDF/52NL.pdf

BTW, bring quarters for the parking meters if needed.

Since I've dove there several times in the last 2 weeks, I thought I'd give a little more info:

- all dives at redondo are free
- the dives have been great, vis has been great, but lately the vis hasn't "opened up" until 70ft; 70-105ft has had 18-20ft vis
- I've seen 1 squid per dive; best chance is between 90 & 100ft depth
- lots of cusk eels, octopus, horn sharks, fringehead, crabs, giant shrimp, scorpionfish, sculpin have been out
- for some pics: http://www.scubapost.net/gallery/redondo-feb16-2005
- overall, the dive is highly recommended!
- you should dive "shoulder to shoulder", there is a lot of silt here, so leader/follower doesn't work very well for the follower!

Thanks for the added info Scott. You are right, that Redondo is free. The dive is sponsored/ led by a local group which is good for first timers. As always, if you have not dove a site by day, do not dive it by night unless you are with experienced divers, DM's, or instructors who know the site. Redondo is very easy. It is comparable to OC's Big Corona, although, there is more marine life @ Redondo, than Corona.
