Dive Rite and a few others had either soft weights or V shaped weights that fit into the V on the inside of the backplate using the tank band screws over 20 years ago. Nothing new. Infact I still have them using as door stops.

I have a few. The V weight was made is SoCal at a dive shop about 20 years ago. The lead V weight is 12 pounds. If I recall, the soft weight is 10 pounds
