Is it generally true that power inflators with SS buttons require more servicing?

Is it a better bet to go with plastic or does it all boil down to how the inflator is maintained ie. rinsed and flushed

Edit - Removed mention of Halcyon SS inflator recall to avoid confusion

That is one of the few that were made, it is very difficult to find them now. That specific model did require more regular servicing and isn't uncommon for divers to rebuild them every 6 months of regular use. They take about 15-20 minutes and it is a DIY service, rinsing doesn't really help them as it is a machining issue as stated by the recall, the non-affected units have to be deep cleaned regularly and the normal flushing doesn't do it. Deep Sea Supply makes an adapter that plugs into the BC inflator port that makes it a bit easier to clean them though, they also have a youtube video showing how service is done.
