Nickel and dime, a peso at a time. I just hope they tack it onto the ferry tickets and not have a separate cashier to pay the fee.

Less than a buck...I can live with it.

The "security" usage makes me laugh though. We are regular bag draggers and I always chuckle as everyone drags their bags through the metal detectors that are either turned off or indicating metal in bags and no one cares. Security theatre at it's finest...although it is much better than if every passenger was subjected to a TSA level search. That would wreck the hourly schedule.

Now if they would just implement alternate schedules every 30 minutes (one company on the hour, one company on the half)....but that's another thread entirely

Thanks for the heads up!! Merry Christmas!

Safe Travels,
Jay

My thoughts exactly. The security guard just stands there as everyone goes through the detector. I could load my bag full of everything and be fine. You'd think they'd just have a couple of folks doing quick bag searches and save the money on the unused hardware.

They are profiling. The scanner is a pretext to question someone that might be a threat. You're a tourist. You're assumed not to be a threat.

If I remember correctly, the ferry's used to be on alternative departures. It was considered by the government to be colluding between the two ferry companies because they were viewed as splitting up the business. It was believed that if both companies left at the same time, then the customer would have a choice and market forces would lead to better service or price competition.

Someone please correct this if I got it wrong.

They're inexpensive, clean, run pretty much on time. Everyone I've ever met working on them has been polite, friendly, efficient. The music could be better. I wish everything stateside ran as well.

Not too long ago you would have thought that a former governor is not a threat, either. And no one would have searched him when he boarded his own ferry...

Where else can you get this type of send off for a $10 boat ride.
