Yesterday afternoon (21/6) police received a report that a man in his 30s in Campsite Bay (Pak Shui Wun), Clear Water Bay, Sai Kung, comatose while learning to dive.

According to media reports, a group of beginner divers took a boat out to sea at noon, and started to dive at about 200 metres away from the University of Science and Technology in Campsite Bay, Chuk Kok Road. They launched into the water in batches with a water depth of about 4 metres. When they surfaced they noticed one person missing and saw him floating in the sea, unconscious.

There was another a group of people diving nearby at the same time. Two of them were firefighters. After everyone worked together to rescue the victim, the two firefighters immediately performed CPR on the victim.

An ambulance took the comatose victim to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for emergency treatment. He remains in critical condition. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
