Hey Doc, I know where you are coming from, but I was refering to the recreational Safety Sausage.....not a SMB. Taking things from your perspective diving set up, SMB's have a much different use and practice is essential to proper deployment. But they are primarily not an Emergency Signal Device. SMB's are a Safety Device first and a Emergency Signal Device second. The smaller recreational Safety Sausages are not meant to be inflated at depth, is cautioned against on the manufactures instructions, and are meant to be utilized as a Surface Signal device only.

Your point is well taken, but two different devices...
