Does anyone dive these islands?
If so where do you recommend staying?
Is one island better than the other?
what dive ops have you used?

I've never been west of Hawaii so this would be a new adventure.
Are there any language issues or do most speak English over there?

Thanks for any info!

Barry

You can get by with English at resorts, but best if you know French. Tahiti and Bora Bora are not great for diving. Rangiroa and Fakarava, in the Tuamotus, are your best bet. I've only been to Rangiroa, so can't comment on Fakarava. Rangiroa was a thrill. Bora Bora is beautiful and I've been twice, but I wouldn't go there for diving.

Don't miss the food trucks in Papaete.

My wife and I spent 10 days diving in Bora Bora 5 years ago and had a great time. Lots of sharks, manta rays, eaglerays, stingrays, barracuda, dolphins, and 200 foot visibility, we thought it was awesome. And the scenery was absolutely beautiful.
You can get by with just English.

Neither IMO are the French Polynesian island group to head to for diving - head to the Tuomotos for Rangiroa and Fakarava. Far superior diving.

Agree on the food trucks/roulottes in Papeete :)

What dive operators do you all recommend in FP islands/Tuamotos?
